The 2026 Team Defence Australia (TDA) international trade show calendar is now live, with the first Expressions of Interest (EOIs) officially open for Australian defence and dual-use companies.
Team Defence Australia is the Australian Government’s national platform for showcasing sovereign defence capability at major international trade events. For companies seeking to build export pathways, strengthen international partnerships and engage directly with global primes and military decision-makers, TDA provides a highly structured and supported environment.
Early EOIs now open: Sea-Air-Space 2026
One of the first EOIs now open is for the Sea-Air-Space (SAS) Conference, taking place 19–22 April 2026 in Maryland, USA.
Sea-Air-Space is the largest maritime exposition in the United States, bringing together defence industry leaders and senior military decision-makers from around the world to share advancements across the maritime, aerospace and integrated domain.
NSW companies interested in exhibiting as part of the Australian Industry Delegation are invited to submit an EOI via the Team Defence Australia ICN webpage by 31 January 2026.
What support does Team Defence Australia provide?
Companies selected to attend an international trade show as part of a TDA delegation receive a comprehensive package of support, including:
- Free space on the custom-built TDA pavilion
- Exhibitor passes
- Pre-event support and advice
- Senior military support and advocacy
- Access to meeting rooms and facilities
- Briefings, networking and business-to-business matching
- On-site support from TDA representatives during the show
To ensure a consistent Australian presence, companies participating as TDA Exhibitors are required to commit at least two attendees to staff the pavilion at all times. This requirement is strictly enforced where exhibitor demand exceeds available capacity.
Defence Export Controls: what you need to know
All companies wishing to participate in a TDA delegation must be registered with Defence Export Controls (DEC) and provide a DEC Client Reference Number (DCRN) as part of their EOI submission.
DEC regulates the export and supply of defence and dual-use goods, software and technology — including temporary exports for trade shows and exhibitions.
Key points to consider:
- Registration with DEC is mandatory before submitting a TDA EOI
- Controlled goods, software or technology may require an export permit
- Marketing material is generally not controlled, unless it contains technical detail that meets Defence and Strategic Goods List (DSGL) thresholds
- Models, prototypes and digital access to controlled technology should be carefully assessed prior to travel
Our article outlines these requirements at a high level and links through to official DEC guidance to help companies prepare early and avoid delays.
