KONGSBERG Australia has marked another important milestone in Australia’s sovereign Defence manufacturing journey, with the first batch of Australian-made Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defence System command and control consoles now departing for Europe.
The export forms part of a Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defence System contract previously signed between KONGSBERG and a NATO nation, demonstrating the growing role of Australian industry in delivering complex, high-value Defence capability into global supply chains.
KONGSBERG Australia Managing Director John Fry said the milestone was a proud moment for the company’s Australian team and supply chain partners, and a strong demonstration of what Australian industry can deliver through the Global Supply Chain Program.
For the Hunter region, this milestone further reinforces the importance of building sovereign capability, advanced manufacturing capacity and Defence industry partnerships that connect Australian businesses to national and international opportunities.
With KONGSBERG continuing to invest in Australia’s guided weapons and Defence manufacturing ecosystem, this export is another strong signal of the capability, quality and competitiveness of Australian Defence industry.
