The NSW Treasury has just released the Defence NSW Industry Support Catalogue. The catalogue builds on the Commonwealth document released in November, which laid out defence industry support and related budget measures.

The catalogue is split into six sections, each providing comprehensive details of each initiative. Here’s an overview of the support, including the available funding.  For full details, including aims of each initiative and eligibility criteria, download the full report below. 

 

INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

Commonwealth

Capability Improvement Grant – $4,000 – $240,000

Defence Innovation Hub – $800 million over the next decade

Sovereign Industrial Capability Priority Grant – $70,000 – $1.4 million

Joint Strike Fighter Industry Support Program – Sustainment Grant – $50,000 – $250,000

 

NSW

Minimum Viable Product – Maximum $25,000

 

ECONOMIC GROWTH

Commonwealth 

Defence Global Competitiveness Grant – $24,000-$240,000

Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) – Reimbursement of up to 50% of eligible export promotion expenses above $5,000

 

NSW

Jobs Plus Program – Individual allocation from a funding pool of $250 million over 4 years

Export Assistance Grant – Reimbursement of 50% of eligible expenses up to a maximum of $10,000

 

REGIONS & PRECINCTS

Regional Job Creation Fund – Up to $10 million in co-funding

Regional Skills Relocation Grant – Reimbursement of up to $10,000 for approved relocation costs

Regional Startups – Up to $2,000

Western Sydney Investment Attraction Fund – TBC

APR Internships – Up to $18,000 per internship

Boosting Apprenticeships Commencements – Subsidy of 50% of wages up to a maximum of $7,000 per quarter

Defence Industry Internship Program (DIIP) – $2.7 million per year from the Defence

Industry Skills Flexible Funding Pool

JobTrainer Fund – $500 million across financial year 2020-21

JobMaker Hiring Credit – $200/week for employees aged 16-29 and $100/week for employees aged 30-35

Industry Skilling Enhancement Program Schools Pathway Program – Defence Industry Skills Flexible Funding Pool ($2.6 million per year)

Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) Grant – $39 million over three years from the Defence Industry Skills Flexible Funding Pool

Youth Jobs PaTH – Up to $10,000

NSW DIN – APR Internships – $10,000 voucher towards internship costs

Skilling for Recovery – Individual allocation from funding pool of $160 million

 

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Commonwealth 

Accelerating Commercialisation – Up to $500,000 of matched project funding for Research Commercialisation Entities and Eligible Partner Entities and up to $1 million for all other eligible applicants

ARC Linkage Program – $50,000 – $300,000/year for two to five years

Australia-US Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative Program (AUSMURI) – Grant funding covers full eligible project costs up to a maximum of $1 million per year for three years

CSIRO Kick-Start – Dollar-matched funding of $10,000 – $50,000

CSIRO SIEF Ross Metcalf STEM + Business Fellowship Program – Up to $115,000 per annum

Defence Cooperative Research Centres – Individual allocation from funding pool of $1.2

billion over the decade to 2030

Defence Industry Competitive Evaluation Research Agreement – Up to $300,000 ex. GST per proposal

Innovation Connections – $30,000 – $50,000

Next Generation Technologies Fund – $1.2 billion over the decade to 2030
